Peg Cameron Gill - Retired Multimedia Writer

“When I need a creative idea, I approach it like I’m entering a house: The obvious way in is through the front door.

But instead, I go around the house and look for another way in.

It might be a different door. A window. Skylight. Tunnel. Or even a trapdoor.”

— Peg Cameron Gill

Caricature by the incredibly gifted Jeff York, a coworker of mine at J. Walter Thompson-Chicago.

Bio

After graduating from the University of Missouri-Columbia Journalism School with an advertising major, I enjoyed a successful career as a copywriter in Chicago, boomeranging back to Columbia, Mo., in early 2013.

Since hanging up my hat in the Windy City I have deftly donned many hats here in The Show-Me State; recently leaving Zimmer Communications where I was a content creator as well as associate editor of its publication Inside Columbia magazine. I’m currently freelancing for multiple clients, including Missouri Life magazine, CoMoBUZ and Autism Speaks.

It’s time for my next hat. Or feather in my cap.

Personal

When not writing, I enjoy other creative pursuits such as deconstructing garments & reimagining them, other sewing, crafting and art projects, gardening, arranging flowers, cooking and MacGyvering stuff around my house and 3.2-acre property affectionately dubbed “The Gillage.”

I also like to chill with family and friends, read, practice yoga, dance like no one’s watching and hike on Columbia’s many scenic trails with my West Highland Terrier Birdie.

Oh. And Scrabble. I’m always game to play. But be warned: I just might take you down a Peg or two.
